Terms of Service

1. Acceptance of Terms

By accessing or using the ShipScope platform ("Service"), you agree to be bound by these Terms of Service ("Terms"). If you do not agree to these Terms, do not use the Service. ShipScope reserves the right to update these Terms at any time, with changes effective upon posting.

2. Service Description

ShipScope is a vessel valuation and compliance platform that provides:

  • Automated vessel valuations using cost, market, and income methodologies
  • CII, EEXI, EU ETS, and FuelEU Maritime compliance calculators
  • Total Cost of Ownership (TCO) analysis and scenario modeling
  • Fleet earnings analytics and voyage economics
  • Vessel lookup and market benchmarking data
  • PDF valuation and compliance reports

The Service is designed as a decision-support tool. It does not replace professional maritime surveying, broker valuations, or regulatory compliance submissions.

3. Account Registration

To access certain features, you must create an account by providing accurate and complete information, including your name, email address, and company name. You are responsible for maintaining the confidentiality of your account credentials and for all activities that occur under your account. You must notify ShipScope immediately of any unauthorized use of your account.

4. Subscription Plans and Payment

ShipScope offers the following subscription tiers:

  • Free Tier: Up to 3 vessel profiles, CII and EEXI calculators, vessel lookup, and basic fleet dashboard. Available indefinitely at no cost.
  • Professional: $150 per vessel per month. Includes all compliance tools, automated valuations, TCO analysis, scenario modeling, PDF reports, and market benchmarks.
  • Enterprise: Custom pricing for large fleets and shipping groups. May include API access, multi-company fleet tracking, SSO, and dedicated support, subject to a separate enterprise agreement.

One-off valuation reports are available for purchase at $499 (Standard), $799 (Priority), $1,499 (Express) without a subscription. All payments are processed through Stripe. Prices are in USD and exclude applicable taxes.

5. Data Ownership

You retain full ownership of all vessel data, fleet information, and other content you submit to ShipScope ("Customer Data"). By using the Service, you grant ShipScope a limited, non-exclusive license to process your Customer Data solely for the purpose of providing the Service to you.

ShipScope may use aggregated and anonymized data derived from use of the Service for the purposes of improving the platform, generating market benchmarks, and conducting research. Such aggregated data will not identify you or your vessels.

6. Acceptable Use

You agree not to:

  • Use the Service for navigational purposes or as a substitute for official nautical charts or instruments
  • Redistribute, resell, or sublicense ShipScope data, valuations, or reports to third parties without prior written authorization
  • Reverse engineer, decompile, or create derivative works from the Service
  • Use the Service in any way that violates applicable international, national, or local laws or regulations
  • Attempt to gain unauthorized access to the Service or its underlying systems
  • Use automated tools to scrape, harvest, or extract data from the Service beyond the intended API access
7. Disclaimer of Warranties

THE SERVICE IS PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE" WITHOUT WARRANTIES OF ANY KIND, EITHER EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, ACCURACY, COMPLETENESS, OR NON-INFRINGEMENT.

ShipScope does not warrant that:

  • Vessel valuations will reflect actual market transaction prices
  • Compliance calculations will satisfy regulatory authority requirements
  • Data from third-party sources (AIS feeds, vessel registries, market benchmarks) is accurate, complete, or current
  • The Service will be uninterrupted, error-free, or free of harmful components

8. Limitation of Liability

TO THE MAXIMUM EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, SHIPSCOPE AND ITS OFFICERS, DIRECTORS, EMPLOYEES, AND AGENTS SHALL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, INCLUDING BUT NOT LIMITED TO LOSS OF PROFITS, LOSS OF BUSINESS, LOSS OF DATA, OR LOSS OF GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR RELATED TO YOUR USE OF THE SERVICE.

ShipScope's total aggregate liability for any claims arising from or related to the Service shall not exceed the total fees paid by you to ShipScope during the twelve (12) months preceding the claim.

You acknowledge that vessel valuations, compliance calculations, TCO analyses, and scenario projections are automated estimates and should not be the sole basis for purchase, sale, financing, or regulatory decisions. ShipScope assumes no responsibility for business decisions made in reliance on the Service.

9. Indemnification

You agree to indemnify and hold harmless ShipScope and its affiliates from any claims, damages, losses, liabilities, and expenses (including reasonable legal fees) arising from your use of the Service, your violation of these Terms, or your violation of any third-party rights.

10. Termination

Either party may terminate the subscription at any time. Upon termination:

  • Your access to paid features will end at the conclusion of the current billing period
  • You may request an export of your Customer Data within 30 days of termination
  • After 30 days, ShipScope may delete your Customer Data from its systems
  • ShipScope may retain anonymized and aggregated data indefinitely

ShipScope reserves the right to suspend or terminate your access for violations of these Terms, with or without notice.

11. Governing Law

These Terms shall be governed by and construed in accordance with applicable law. Any disputes arising from these Terms or use of the Service shall be resolved through binding arbitration or in the courts of competent jurisdiction.
